Switzerland Fact-File Part 5:
Small Business Incentive Programs
5.2 Switzerland Training Incentive Schemes
Government and Municipal Training Programs
There are a number of federal and cantonal schemes to foster
vocational or non-vocational training. The Swiss Confederation’s
Innovation Promotion Agency (CTI) encourages businesses and
universities to work together and can assist start-up businesses.
The CTI is in particular focused on science-based companies
and research & development projects.
New small businesses and entrepreneurs may receive assistance
by way of training, notably in the methodology and techniques
that are required to enable them to implement their ideas
in their new business. Again, science or technology-based
companies are the main focus. Further information on the CTI
Start-up project can be found here: http://www.ctistartup.ch/htm/home.htm
The Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology
(OPET) is the government body responsible for overseeing upper-secondary
level vocational education and training (VET), tertiary-level
professional education and training (PET), universities of
applied sciences (UAS), and innovation promotion.
The Swiss Careers Advisory Service Centre provides advice
on choosing a profession or training course. A national database
(WAB) contains information from all the cantons on training
opportunities in different professions. The database is sponsored
by the Confederation.
