1.3 UK Individual Business Registration Cost
The cost of business registration, initially and
ongoing
There are no costs associated with a self-employed
person registering for income tax, national insurance or VAT.
Currently, a fee of GBP20 is payable when registering a limited
liability company or limited liability partnership with Companies
House. Limited Liability Companies may file the application
electronically on the Companies House website, in which case
the fee is reduced to GBP15. Same-day incorporation of a Limited
Liability Company may be requested for a higher fee of GBP50
(or GBP30 if filed electronically). Limited Liability Partnerships
can only file applications on paper at present.
The same scale of fees also applies to foreign companies
setting up in the UK, including branches of foreign companies.
There are other charges payable to Companies House on an ongoing
basis, including fees for filing the annual return (GBP30,
or GBP15 if filed electronically) and change of company name
(GBP10.00).
