Friday, February 26, 2010

It was announced in February that twelve Swiss start-ups, the majority of which benefited from assistance provided by the Swiss Innovation Promotion Agency's CTI Startup programme have received accolades from US tech publication, Red Herring.

The companies (ten of which received start-up coaching from CTI) were named as some of the most promising companies worldwide at the moment. The Swiss start-ups in question were:

  • Amazee (Internet & Services);
  • Doodle (Internet & Services);
  • Hocoma (Medical Devices);
  • KeyLemon (Internet & Services);
  • kooaba (Telecommunications);
  • Netguardians (Security & Defense);
  • Procedural (Entertainment & Media);
  • Revolt Technology (Hardware);
  • RouteRank (Internet & Services);
  • Semantic System AG (Other);
  • Sensimed (Medical Devices); and
  • Sobees (Internet & Services)

"The top 100 companies who were chosen should be extremly proud, the competition was difficult," Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring observed.

CTI Start-up was launched by the Swiss Confederation's Innovation Promotion Agency CTI in 1996.

The innovation promotion agency (CTI) encourages business and universities to work together and can assist start-up businesses by offering coaching and other support relating to marketing and attracting finance. The CTI is particular focused on science-based companies and research and development projects.
