6.2 Cyprus Employment vs Self-Employment Tax Issues
The differences between employment and self-employment
Workers who engage in temporary or freelance
work are not covered by the same laws as employees, as Cypriot
employment law distinguishes between contracts of service,
and contracts for the provision of services. They are therefore
unlikely to receive all of the same protections as employees.
Employees and unincorporated small businesses face tax under
the personal income tax regime, as do the partners in a general
partnership.
Self-employed entrepreneurs who choose to incorporate will
face the 10% corporate income tax on the profits of the business.
